Finalists Chosen for 13th Annual SMA Manager & Strategist of the Year Awards

Award Winners to be Recognized by Envestnet and ‘Investment Advisor’ Magazine during 2017 Envestnet Advisor Summit—May 3-5 in Dallas

CHICAGO—April 5, 2017—Envestnet, Inc. (NYSE: ENV) and Investment Advisor magazine have selected finalists for the 13th Annual Separately Managed Account (SMA) Manager and Strategist of the Year Awards. The awards pay tribute to best-in-class portfolio managers, and will be presented during the 2017 Envestnet Advisor Summit, which is taking place May 3-5 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas (

“All investment managers want to generate consistent alpha for investors, but very few actually attain this goal,” said Tim Clift, Chief Investment Strategist at Envestnet | PMC, Envestnet’s Portfolio Management Consultants group. “By utilizing our comprehensive research solutions to identify managers that fit into this elite group, and teaming up with Investment Advisor to recognize them, we can educate the industry about strategies and best practices that may lead to long-term outperformance.”

A single Manager of the Year will be selected from among the category winners as a model of investment management excellence. Investment Advisor will feature all of the winners in its July 2017 issue.

Award finalists were chosen using Envestnet | PMC’s proprietary, systematic, and multi-factor methodology for evaluating managers. This framework takes a variety of qualitative and quantitative criteria into consideration, such as investment process and style, performance, firm profile, customer service, and tax efficiency.  

To qualify for an SMA Manager and Strategist of the Year Award, a manager’s team must have at least three years of experience running a strategy with $200 million or more in assets. A manager’s product is also required to be reported through Envestnet | PMC’s Premium Research solutions, which are leading sources of investment-manager due diligence and research for advisors.
