RICH FRIEDBERG
Rich Friedberg serves as Chief Information Security Officer at Envestnet, where he leads enterprise information security strategy, cyber risk management, governance integration, security operations, and resilience. He ensures security is embedded into the design, development, and operation of Envestnet’s adaptive wealthtech platform, strengthening trust and enabling innovation at scale. He partners closely with executive leadership and the Board to align cybersecurity with enterprise risk oversight and strategy.
Rich brings more than 25 years of cybersecurity leadership experience across financial services, SaaS, and national security sectors. Most recently, he served as Chief Information Security Officer at Live Oak Bank, where he embedded cybersecurity into governance and strategic planning while modernizing core capabilities to enhance regulatory confidence and operational efficiency. He previously led cybersecurity operations at Blackbaud and served as Vice President of Information Security and CISO for Capital One’s Credit Card division.
Earlier in his career, Rich was Deputy Director of the CERT® Coordination Center (CERT/CC) at Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute. There, he led national-level cybersecurity research, incident response, and threat intelligence initiatives supporting critical U.S. government and infrastructure partners and contributed to foundational cyber defense and threat coordination frameworks.
Rich is NACD Directorship Certified and serves as adjunct faculty at Carnegie Mellon University’s Executive Education program. He holds an MBA from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science from Carnegie Mellon University.
